Yes. The N52 neodymium core paired with a mechanical shoulder is engineered to hold far more than the heaviest spotter or camera rig you'd put on it, and it seats with an audible, positive click so you know it's locked. We're finalizing our published load ratings from field testing — but your optic was never meant to be the weak link.
No. The magnetic field is contained in the mount housing and falls off sharply with distance — it won't affect glass, coatings, or the electronics in a rangefinder, thermal, or phone in normal use. The plate threads to your optic's standard 1/4"-20 socket; nothing touches the lens or the internals.
It's built for it. The magnet handles alignment and hold; a mechanical shoulder takes the shear load so wind, vibration, and the occasional knock won't walk it loose. To release, you pull the plate deliberately — it won't let go on its own.
